Act 48

Everything You Need to Know About Act 48

Act 48 of 1999 requires persons holding PA professional educator certification to complete continuing professional educator certification to complete continuing education requirements (6 college credits, 6 credits of continuing professional education courses, 180 hours of continuing professional education, or any combination of these options) every five years in order to maintain their certificates. This is applicable to all educators, regardless of employment status, holding PA public certification including, Instructional I and II, Educational Specialist I and II, Administrative, Supervisory, Vocational, and/or Letters of Eligibility.

Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV''s Act 48 Continuing Professional Education Plan strives to meet the needs of our organization, our broader learning community and individual continuing education needs through a comprehensive plan that offers a broad range of professional education activities (see Courses and Workshops).
