Community-Based Instruction

Community Based Instruction (CBI) provides opportunities for students in need of any type of community experiences to receive them as part of their education. Transition activities linked to curriculum needs typically begin at age 12-14 and address community awareness. Using the identified CBI Career Ladder, students participate in the Career Development Process: Awareness, Investigation, Exploration, Preparation, Advance Preparation and Entry Level Employment. These non-traditional educational experiences outside the regular school setting function as the transition to adult living for students who need special instruction past the age of 18 years of age.
